Some people build things.
I’ve always been more interested in what they become, and the place they earn in the world.

Origins

A Life of Design

Growing up in Miami shaped how I see things.
Art, fashion, and architecture were part of everyday life.

I learned to recognize what draws people in.

What becomes iconic and memorable, what holds attention, and what people are drawn to at a visceral level.

That understanding shapes my work.

Attending Art Basel since its genesis, when it was a community event in the Miami Design District.

Equally important to me is the value of design in commerce.

Design has to compete.

I started by learning how to build. Then I became more interested in why things should exist at all.

That curiosity pulled me into business, commerce, and eventually consulting.
I wanted to understand the forces behind the work, not just the work itself.

I learned to lead with the question of why.
To understand not just what is made, but what the object of design needs to achieve.

Build. Attract. Compete.

Over time, that way of thinking became a simple standard for the work.

Things need to be built well.
They need to draw people in.
And they need to stand up in the market.

When all three come together,
that’s when design starts to matter.

This approach has been shaped and tested across years of work.

Experience

Built Over Time

Shaped over 25 years across enterprise, venture, and product environments.

Building and launching digital and physical products across different industries taught me how design behaves in the real world.
Over time, it gave me a practical perspective on management, product development, and strategy.

Whether the product is a twelve-passenger business jet or a SaaS platform managing cloud services, the path to market follows the same basic logic. Products move through stages, and each stage demands different teams, decisions, and leadership. I have worked across discovery, launch, and continuous improvement throughout my career.

I began as an automotive designer at Honda, where I found an early affinity for controls and logic, long before smartphones and modern digital products became the norm. From there I moved into consulting through BMW, continuing to work across industrial design and digital products. After several launches, I entered the startup world at Fisker Automotive as a lead interior and UX designer. Since then, I have helped launch products and shape strategy across startups and corporate ventures, including work developed through BCG Digital Ventures and McKinsey Digital.

"Augusto was an incredibly helpful thought and design partner as we created our fundraising materials. Augusto and OSD were able to do both--stunning designs & insightful critiques of our story. Moreover, his team always delivered our requests on-time regardless of how tight the deadlines. OSD delivers top quality design work on par with any professional service firm. I would highly recommend any startup looking for a design firm to consider Augusto and his team."

Current Work

Today, I focus on fewer projects because I go deeper into each one and prefer to stay along the product cycle to react to market changes.

I work closely with founders and teams at moments when something important is taking shape, whether that means defining a product, migrating a platform, repositioning an experience, or rebuilding from the ground up.

The work lives between design, systems, and business. My purpose is to create things that hold attention, perform in the market, and last.

Offices at OSD, Downtown Miami.
"I’ve always been drawn to symbols, to the way meaning is encoded in form.

To the tension between rules and how far they can be pushed.

I like testing ideas in precise ways.
Exploring extremes, but doing it with control.

I’m fascinated by engineering.
And it’s what drives my personal work.
I keep refining until something clicks, until it feels inevitable."
