
As automotive systems became more complex, traditional dashboards filled with buttons and knobs struggled to provide a clear and cohesive user experience. Fisker set out to explore a new approach for the Karma’s interior controls — one that could integrate multiple vehicle systems into a single digital interface while maintaining the elegance expected from a luxury vehicle.
The challenge was to create a cockpit experience that blended digital interaction with the tactile familiarity of automotive controls.
Climate systems, media playback, communication features, and vehicle information all needed to be accessible through an intuitive interface while supporting safe use during driving.
The project explored how a unified digital environment could redefine the vehicle cockpit, combining touchscreen interaction, dynamic instrument visualization, and thoughtful system architecture to create a modern automotive user experience.
The project focused on designing the Fisker Karma’s digital control system, centered around a touchscreen interface that unified climate controls, media systems, communication features, and vehicle settings. The goal was to simplify interaction while maintaining the visual sophistication expected from a luxury vehicle.
Alongside the infotainment interface, a digital instrument cluster was developed to present driving information, energy usage, and system status through dynamic gauge visualizations.
The interface language blended contemporary digital graphics with cues inspired by classic automotive instrumentation to create a sense of clarity and craftsmanship.
Additional research explored interaction models, sound design, and interface architecture to ensure the system delivered a coherent and intuitive experience. Together, these explorations helped define a digital cockpit vision that integrated visual design, interaction logic, and system behavior into a unified automotive interface.
