The rise of connected devices introduced a new category of wearable technology that challenged the traditional Swiss watch industry. With the introduction of the Apple Watch, consumers began adopting wrist-based digital ecosystems that prioritized functionality, notifications, and smartphone integration.
While luxury mechanical watches retained strong cultural and emotional value, the rapid growth of smartwatches raised an important strategic question: how could traditional watchmakers evolve without abandoning the craftsmanship, heritage, and symbolic value that define luxury timepieces?
Neptuno explores a strategic response to this challenge by proposing a new category of hybrid luxury timepiece. Rather than competing directly with smartwatches through full digital interfaces, the concept integrates essential connected features into a mechanical watch architecture. The project combined market analysis, luxury design principles, and product strategy to identify how a Swiss watch brand might adopt selective digital capabilities while preserving the emotional and cultural codes of high-end watchmaking.
The resulting concept demonstrates how mechanical displays, refined materials, and minimal digital augmentation could coexist in a modern connected luxury watch.
